Do You Suffer From Knee Pain?

It’s unbearable. Walking, standing, bending, day to day tasks…you can’t imagine functioning while your knees are hurting so badly. According to the Arthritis Foundation, osteoarthritis (OA) impacts about 27 million Americans and is the most common chronic joint condition. We think this is unacceptable! So, if osteoarthritis, or pain in general, is present in your knees, what can you do about it?

Fortunately, surgery is not always the answer. While surgery definitely has a place and time, it’s not the only option to relieve knee pain. At Pain Relief Partners, we offer a variety of treatment options to help lower your knee pain.

First and foremost, our favored treatment option is stem cell therapy. Stem cells are a blank cell, so to speak. When they’re injected into the body they target the site of inflammation and become the tissue they need to become. This means that these cells will literally regrow your cartilage, bone, ligaments, and nerves. Yes, regrow! This will heal the true, underlying cause of your knee pain. Stem cells are a one-and-done injection into the knee with little to no recovery time needed. First, you’ll meet with Dr. Kessinger to make sure stem cells are the proper treatment option for your particular needs. Once a treatment plan is decided, we set a time and day for your stem cell procedure. On the day of the procedure, you’ll meet with Stephanie and she’ll ensure you’re well informed about the therapy. The injection of the stem cells into the knee will take place that same day. The injection is quick and there’s very little pain involved. You’ll rest for a brief spell (about 15 minutes), and you’re free to go about your day. Done! It’s truly an incredible procedure.

If stem cell therapy is not right for you, we also offer hyaluronic acid injections (Supartz and Gelsyn). Hyaluronic acid, or HA, is a substance that occurs naturally in your body and it helps to cushion your joints. If HA is the best option for you, we would inject the product in a series of 3 or 5. Patients usually come in once or twice per week to have this procedure done. While HA provides a great cushion in the joint space, it does not restore cartilage. HA is a wonderful, short term prevention against additional bone and cartilage loss, and it also helps your body to produce more HA on its own. In some cases, steroid injections are also used prior to receiving HA injections.

To supplement the injection therapies, we recommend several deep tissue laser treatments, as well as kineseo taping, and/or chiropractic care on a case by case basis. All of our treatments help to reduce inflammation, increase flexibility and strength, reduce pain, and most importantly, improve function.
